I have some Pulsing Xenia that have started to take over 1/3 of my tank. I don't want to have to remove the rocks that they have over took. What is the best way of kulling them down to an acceptable level? Is there any precautions i need to take?

I've had success just peeling them off the rock. Using your fingernail, just pick at the base until it starts to peel up.

I have some on a loose piece of rock. Whenever it starts to look like it is going to attach to another rock, I remove the loose rock and cut the offending stalk off. (It can be attached to some rubble or whatever and traded to other reefers.)

Once some did attach where I did not want it and when I pulled it off, a little residue remained. In a few days that residue started growing polyps. During my next water change, I used a tooth brush (otherwise unused :D ) to scrub the rock and it did not return. So best approach is prevention or removal with scrubbing may be required later.

I use scissors.
