The canopy will be over a 90 gallon tank.

I know very little at all about DYI fixtures and haven't seen many setups in person so I need all the help I can get.

1. Hood Height is 12 Inches from top of inside of hood to very top of black trim (and extra 1inch off water?)

2. I want to go with 2 x 250 MH with 2 Supplemental VHO

3. I think i want to stay with single ended and am not interested in overdriving the lights.

This is pretty much the extent of my knowledge...

I've gotten a lot of conflicting feedback on the height requirements of certain reflectors, people have told me that 12inches is to short for any reflector other than the 2 below (and some said its to short even for these) and I have to use T5's?? But I'm not interested in t5's

I put 2 250DE's over my corner 70 which is tight in the canopy with success using the MH fixture from hellolights. They're only about 5" off the water, but everything seems fine.

So having lights that close doesnt cause an issue with heat?

Also can u send me the link to the fixture, i'm so confused yet :) hehe

I'd hate to have to buy one fo the simple reflectors if i'm not going to get good results.

LINK (http://www.hellolights.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1325)

Heat hasn't been an issue yet, well vented canopy, plus the basement system stabilizes the temp, so the upstairs tank stays at about 79.5.

Size determined my purchase, but I probably would have gone for Luminarcs if there was room.

I've never delt with single ended so I can't comment on anything there, but I was definitely surprised by how much heat halides make! Reaching into the canopy with the halides on is an adventure...:eek1:
