Please post your pictures of the Upscales Rasberry Echino, I have a heard a lot of good stuff about this chalice but I don't see too many pictures of it. If you got pictures can you please post them here...it's quickly becoming my new favorite
Also, could you give a brief overview of lighting and placement of it in your system

I know I have a picture of mine somewhere. Its not uploaded into my photobucket so I'll have do dig through some pics. But yah man its a really nice one and its not easy to find. From what I hear Upscales lost their colony and tyree doesn't have his either. From my experience its grows very slow. Think of something that grows slow then cut that in half, lol.
Kev you and I have the same lighting. Mine is on the sand bed.
When I got my first frag it a bit smaller then a dime. That was maybe 6 months ago. Today its barely the size of a nickel. :D
That picture does it no justice. Looking at it I would think why would you want it? But its a really really nice piece. Nice pink/red with blue eyes.

I'll look tonight.
After I got that frag, not more then 2 weeks later I was at Eric's (FF) and I saw he had a mini colony of this upscales raspberry. I asked him how much for a frag, he said you can buy the entire piece if you want. So I did. Then I had a drop in alk about 1 month later and lost a few pieces, that happen to be one of them. But the small frag I had before survived.

I got mine from Travis about 10 months ago. It was a fresh cut and started to receed and bleach. I saved one eye and since then it has grown into two eyes

I'm a big fan of unusual chalices but this one seems pretty plain to me.

Believe it or not, but here it is. It probably grew slow from the beginning because it didn't have a mouth yet. Right now it has 3 mouths now. Whats strange is how it changed from the pinkish color with blue rim to mostly blue with pinkish around the mouths.
When I first got it in March 08

And the last picture I took of it in July

The Upscales Raspberry really is a sweet chalcie. I love the deep raspberry red of the body with raspberryorange/blue eyes with a nice blue rim. It really does stand out in the tank with all the other chalices I have. It is a slooooow grower and can be tempermental when fragged but well worth the wait for those that get it. I have been keeping it on the bottom with diffused light or even shaded from time to time when it gets shoved back a bit. I think less light keeps the body a really deep raspberry color and gets the eyes a bit more intense. The color in the rim has really deepened since the second shot was taken. :) :)

Great pictures guys! and Thanks Darryll!
Ahhh Alicia, I knew you had this one! you have a gorgoeus specimen! So diffused low light brings out the raspberry color and higher light makes it more blue like Darryll's? You still running SE 12K Reeflux 250w?

Actually mine just lightened up quite a bit and the eyes were not as visible out in the light, I am not sure how Darryl got his so blue inthe body. Mine was more like Tyree's picture at the top of this thread when it was out in the direct light. I like it better now and in the pictures.
Kevin, I swapped out light fixtures about 6 months ago over the tank with my sps and chalices, currently I am running a SE 20K Radium with 4 x 24w T5's in a Giesemann Fixture...it rocks :D. Prior to that I had 2 x 250 DE Phoenix bubls. I run the SE 250w 12K Reeflux on my other tank :).
