I have given thoughts to going BB with the new 120 in the works ( an upgrade from my current 75 ) but have decided to go with a shallow sand bed. I will be using a coarser grain of sand ( special reef grade sand ) instead of the sugar sand I have now in my 75. What depth is reccomended for a SSB ? The SSb in the 120 will be mostly for asthetics and will be vaccuumed on occasion. I will add a few scoops of established sand from my 75 to seed the SSb with some critters though.

I'd go with a half inch. That's what I have in my 120.

Thanks everyone.

knockout, I am planning on the special reef grade sand from caribsea. It is 1.0 - 2.0 mm grain size.
