As I've mentioned before I am setting up an aggressive tank. This will be my 3 venture into keeping aggressive fish. I've been focusing mostly on nano-reefs for the last couple of years and have kinda lost touch w/ the FOWLR/aggressive scene. So, to help me out, would you post some pic's of your setup and inhabitants and maybe a brief description? TIA.

I have a 500 gal. tank with a 120 gal. sump. If you go to the "sting rays with tangs" thread, I just posted pics of my tank. Here are some pics of my sump.

Filtration consists of LR and about 2-4" of sand in the display. The overflows are plumbed to a 3" pipe that runs to a bio-ball trickle filter, filter pads, carbon, etc. The water then passes over a DSB of about 5" (static bed) which includes an additional 1" of Miracle Mud on top. This is loaded with pods and worms.

The water then flows to a sump which contains my protein skimmer and heater(s) - depending on time of year. My skimmer is a Coralife super skimmer rated for 225 gal. The return pump is an Ocean Runner 3500 rated for about 900gph (I think).

The display also has 3 powerheads (3-400gph) and 2 of the Koralia 4s (1200gph).

There are also 2 very large canister filters that currently contain no media and are used for additional flow and refugium. The pain and expense of replacing everything in them every 6 months or so drove me to run them empty.

Lights are 4 x 96w CF - 384 watts. Probably more than I need, but this was left over from my failed 125gal reef tank.

All makeup/ change water is with RO/DI (also Coralife 100gpd unit) My water changes are usually bi-monthly.

I think that's all. It seems like a lot, but my fish require a lot of filtration. My next upgrade may include ozone.
