Reef Safe Yellow Fish?

I would really like a bright yellow fish in my reef setup. I have a plenty of live rock, mixed corals and live sand. The tank is 105gallon,25 gallon sump and 25gallon fuge.

I really like the yellow tang but i don't think my tank is big enough with the current occupants which are hippo tang (3"), purple tang(3"), 2 false clownfish, manderin, midas blenny, 2 Harlequin shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp, a dozen snails and hermit crabs.

thanks

I would say a yellow coris, but it will compete with your manderin for food.

how do you move?

You can't, but a moderator will likely move it before too long.

You might try a yellow clown goby, some don't like them on their coral but IMO they do no harm. I have had one in my 185 since
day one for fish. Its been a model citizen. Still tiny too.

Maybe I'm a little partial to blennies but:

ORA cannary blennies. not too common, beautiful yellow (pics dont do them justice, the head area has a little lime green going on), they swim around in the open and being aquacultured suppose to be relatively hardy unlike wild caught fang blennies. these work well in small or large tanks

Just as fine a choice would be the midas blenny. except for the fang mouth and squared off head they look almost identicle besides the slightly oranger shade of yellow. these are even more bolder than the fang blennies and much easier to come by

the nice thing about these blennies is they dont nip stony corals like most algae blennies are prone too (both of these are primarily plankton eating carnivores..

Foxface rabbit fish are bright yellow and vegetarians. They like to swim like tangs but can get fairly large.

Canary damsel. Found it when looking for a yellow fish for my 75g reef. I've had it for about 8 months now with none of the horror stories you usually hear of damsels. Very docile and just swims around doing its own thing. Love it!!!

A yellow watchman goby is always a nice touch and perfectly reef safe.

Why don't you like your Midas Blenny that you have? They are quite yellow. I absolutely love mine.

How about a Yellow Pyramid butterfly? I thought a Yellow Corris wrasse should also be fine too since I am not sure it will compete food source with the Mandarin. Mine doesn't...

Thanks for the reply,

The fox face rabbit fish looks great but I was advised by the LFS (in thailand) that they are just as likely to pick at the corals as the lemon peel angel - another great looking fish. From your experience is this generally true?

I like my midas blenny, but its a more peach colour than yellow! So far i 'm thinking of the yellow clown goby... but its only small so member I will have room for another :)

cheers

I'd say a canary wrasse (also goes by the poor common name "yellow coris wrasse," though it is not of the Coris genus). They are reef safe, will not harm your inverts (other than pods), and stay at about 4-5" at full size. I have one and it's awesome, eats from my hand.

Yellow Assessor might make a nice addition. They get around 3.5" full grown and are usually excellent tank mates.

Just be careful with clown gobies. They have a reputation for destroying corals. They like to make stony corals their home and their irritate them

my The fox face rabbit fish doesnt pick any of my corals and i think your tank is plenty big enough to add a yellow tang

You might also look at the candy hogfish.

I think three tangs and a Siganus vulpinus (Foxface rabbit fish)might be a bit much for the tank size. I have two of them in separate tanks and they do not pick at any of my corals. Some have been known to nip[ a zoanthus or two. The yellow tang and purple tang are both Zebrasomas and will likely fight.

Some other options ;

Gencanthus melanospilos (Japanese Swallotail Angelfish/Blackspot Angel fish). The female is yellow.

Hemitaurichthys polyepsis (Pryamid Butterflyfish) .

Forcipiger Longirsotris( Big Lonnosed Butterfly fish). note not the Forcipiger flavissimus( longnose dutterfly fish) . The later will nip corals.
