Hi guys, I was just wondering what kind and size of powerhead would be right for water movement in a 46 gallon Bowfront. I really like the Koralia ones but am not sure what size to get. Thanx in advance,
-Tony

I would suggest either two #2's or 3's depending on what type of corals you have and what kinda flow they like . I had two #3's in my 60 (36" wide) and it was good.
I currently have a #6 and a #3 in my 60 and it's borderline too much. I had to shoot the #6 at the glass and ricochet it to reduce the direct flow on my LPS.

Depends on what you want to keep. I would think that a couple of the 2s would be a good start.

I have a 90 gallon and I bought 2 K2s because 600 gph seemed like a lot of flow. I have since ordered 2 K4s(1200)...K2s would be good in a 46 gallon IMO.

Good luck

I'd probably lean towards a 3, to be honest. I don't think they're as much flow as you expect, I have a pair of 3s to supplement flow in my tank and I wish I had bigger ones, to be honest.

I wouldn't go with any less than 2 K2s. I think 2 K3s should be good for most purposes, and even 2 K4s would be fine, especially if you're planning to keep SPS and/or go bare bottom. I have kind of a weird setup where I have a K4, a K1 and a closed loop (pushing about 800 gph). This is in my 46g with shallow sand bed and a mix of corals (SPS, LPS and a few softies). If I wanted to get similar flow with just Koralias, I'd probably use two K4s, especially since they're physically the same size as the K3s.

I would use either 4 k3's or a closed loop with manifold (no drilling).

If you are keeping fish only, the use one k4 and bounce the flow off the bow to create a laminar whilpool. Fish wouldn't mind the flow and all or most of your detritus would collect in a small area making it easier to clean out. IMO

I use two modded Tunze 6025s in my 75g and I love em'. Only negative is the C Clamp Mounts .. lack of a better word.. suck. :)

2 3s would be good, its suprising how they spread the flow about around the tank, i dont think it would be overkill at all personally.

2 would be perfect ,im using 4 in my 180g and they are pretty powerfull
