Ok, so I'm plumbing a system where the drain has to drop down to about 20" and then go back up 6" in order to drain into the sump...does anyone know if the back pressure the drained water will encounter would be a major issue?
I will be draining about 1800 gph through 2" pipe using the herbie method at the overflow...
anyone ever done this?

here is a quick sketch I made...

If the return pump shuts down do you have enough space, in the sump, to accommodate the column of water from your display tank? Your tank will drain into your sump from the 40" mark, on the drain pipe, to the top of the water line! Lot's of water on the floor....

I'd raise the drain pipe higher up to maybe 2" below the current water line.

What's the gate valve for? I've always been told to not throttle the drain to the sump. Adjust return flow on the return side of your pump.....

hope this helped.
