II have a pink ricordea that has been in my established tank for about 9 months. The parameters are all good in my tank and the salinity is 1.025. My ricordea however hasn't grown at all in the time its been in my tank. I have a 6x35 watt t5 light over my 30 gallon tank. Any help or ideas would be useful.

are you dosing any nutrients?

try cutting it so you can get it to split.

As far as dosing goes, I add calcium, super buffer, iodine, and trace elements. I also add Kent's phyto 3 times a week as well as feed frozen mysis for my fish.

Will cutting it stimulate growth? As of right now, it is the size of a half dollar.

Have you seen any benefit from spot feeding ricordea or can you just add phyto straight to the tank?

You can try feeding mysis or brine to the ric. Some eat it, some don't. They eat it slowly so make sure no other fish are near and are going to bother it. Cutting it induces splitting sometimes. If you cut 2 sides opposite to each other towards the center, but not through the center (figure 8 shape) it may continue and finish the split rather than heal itself.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try cutting it and see what happens. I'll post an update when I do it.

That's a good idea! What's the success rate for this? Have you ever lost a ricordea by cutting it?
