Hello,
I just received my small internal for use on my 90 gallon aquarium. I would like to first thank Victor for helping me locate a dealer that had one in stock.

I installed the skimmer in my sump right out of the box. For the last two days the skimmer has been overflowing. I have adjusted the stand pipe but that did not stop the overflow. The skimmer is sitting in 10 inches of water. I can not adjust the water level in the section of the sump the skimmer is in. So my questions are:

1. Is this overflow normal since I did not clean the skimmer prior to adding it to my tank?

2. Will the height of the water in my sump (10 inches) adversely affect the performance of the skimmer?

All advie and responses are appreciated. Thank you.

Shaun

Per Victor it shouldnt be in more than 6.5 or 6.75 inches of water. Cleaning it is not the problem, the depth of the chamber is. You can build a simple stand to get it to the right height. My atb small is very tempermental about water depth.

I've seen users take the white light difuser, cut them to length, and zip tie them together. If 6.5 to 6.75" is the mfg. suggested height, then you need to adhere, otherwise your skimmer will overflow all the time.

Thank you for the responses. I can move the skimmer into my return section to meet the correct water height.

just raise it a few inches you will get muceobubbles in the return if you move it until it breaks in then you might get microbubbles when u feed though even after break in

I moved the skimmer into the return section last night. No more overflow! Initially there were some microbubbles being pumped into the display but after a little fiddling the problem was corrected.

Again, I thank everyone for their help. Now lets get skimming.
