I am a nikon user forever, but recently demo 1ds for a day of shooting simple the best camera ever, but out of my price range

I agree either will be an excellant choice. I have been Nikon for life also and have a few friends with the high end Cannons and they are just as good, just comes down to personal preferance. If you have a lot of && invested in glass then it makes the choice easy.

If you've invested a good amount of money in your Nikon lenses like I have in my Canon lenses, I certainly wouldn't change. Canon lenses do tend to be a little less costly, but I think both companies have comparable cameras. The 1D line is out of my price range as well, but most of my shooting is done outside on the streets, in the woods, etc., so the larger body really doesn't appeal to me anyway.

I'm sure the 5d M2 is going to be a sweet camera, though.
