I inherited an adult Tiger Cowrie that I want to keep alive. I believe they are slightly carniverous as adults. Can I feed it by placing a silverside or Tetra Tip under it or out it near it when it is out? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have no tasty soft corals for it except mushrooms. Does it eat shroons? Have had it for a week and no probs.-with leathers and musrooms and it does not eat Nori. I hear they like condy. anemones. I want to keep the thing alive.

IME these are nocturnal feeders making it difficult to monitor feedings. Nori will be eaten. So will Clavularia and similar corals.I don't believe mine ever touched ANY anemones.

I thought adults did not eat Nori and have not noticed it eating Nori when it was 3 inches away. This was at night with no lights while it was on the glass. Dr. Smith and Foster site says Tetra tips and I am going to try a silverside tonight.

pellet foods would likely be taken. small bits of silverside, too.
I had to get rid of my large adult Tiger because it caused too much damage to soft corals in my 225.

I would hope that it stays away from my mushrooms, leathers and polyps. Will it? I do have a 20 gal set up with no coral.

there's only one way to find out :)

if you wake up one morning and something is missing you know who the likely culprit is.

If it was going to graze leathers or mushrooms, I am sure it would have done so by now. My only concern is keeping it alive.
