Randy, how long is the mixed Dowflake good for?
Should it be shaken before each use?
I've been using from a one gallon jug of mixed Dowflake/RODI for a while now, maybe at least 6-12 months. Is there a shelf life for it? Does/will it go bad?
The bottom 1/10th or so of the jug is a bit milky. Should I throw it out or shake and still use? Thanks for the help.

If kept sealed, which prevents contamination from dust and who-knows-what falling in as well as evaporation which would eventually lead to preciptation of solid CaCl2, the shelf life is limitless. The solution can be kept for months, years, centuries, millenia, etc. with no apparent change to the solution if it's kept sealed.

If you're starting to see a preciptate (assuming the bottle has been sealed and water was not lost to evaporation) I'd soak it in a tub of hot water to redissolve the precipitate. If, on the other hand, there has been evaporation you'd have to independently determine the concentration. In that case it might be convenient to just make new solution.

Screw on top always on. I'll just pour it out and make more. Thanks.

I would just ignore and leave behind any solids, which might just be some calcium carbonate or possibly iron oxide and other impurities.
