I have a weird dilemma...I really want to stock 2 different colour variations of the beau-gregory damsel (one is the normal pattern and the other has a nice copper-coloured stripe running on its back). I scooped both up from the tide pools by my house.
My tank is a 14-gal biocube with plenty of hiding spaces. These fish are TINY. The larger one measures less than 1/2 inch and the smaller one is about 1/3 inch. As you may imagine the larger one picks incessantly on the smaller one. I also have a inch-long green-banded goby which hasn't been bothered by the damsels.
Since they were added to the tank one day apart (the larger one went in first) I netted both out today and held them in a bucket to see if this behavior will change once taken out of that environment & re-stock both in the tank at the same time. The larger one still chases the smaller one inside the bucket, so it looks as this will not change. I am not certain how to proceed. What should I do?? I could always go back to the water tomorrow and release them or pick up a new pair of similar-sized damsels. Thanks!!
