If I have 2 external pumps (genX pcx 40) and only one return in my display tank, is it possible to tie these two pumps together to double my flow rate? I was thinking like, T off my sump output to feed both pumps and the bring them back together using a T on the output back into the 1 return. My display is a 300 gallon with 1 1/2 inch drain stand pipe.

You'd be better off to put in another bulked into the sump and run two separate returns to the tank. You can impede the output of those pumps, but not the input side. You would have to enlarge the current bulked anyway to provide enough feed water to both pumps.

Connecting pumps in series or parallel (http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/pumps-parallel-serial-d_636.html) for increased head or flow
