External overflow question?

Can anyone please tell me how to start the flow on U-tube on external overflow. I forgot how....

Just get a long piece of air hose and put it into the u tube until it is right at the top and make sure the utube is all the way in the overflow then suck on the other end of the air hose until the siphon is created and it starts to flow. Just remember to be ready to start the pump as soon as your overflow begins to siphon water out and WA-LA!! hth.

You can pour water into both sections of the overflow where the u tube goes. Then fill the u tube with water and plug both ends of the u tube with pieces of paper towel making usre there is no air in the tube. Place the u tube in its place in the overflow and extract the pieces of paper towel. Turn on the pump and you should have flow in the overflow.
