Roughly a month ago I purchased a pair of black ocellaris from a LFS that purchased them from ORA. The female was slightly rounded which as an idiot I thought meant she was gravid, or at least in spawning condition. Here's what she looked like on November 7th:

This is what she looks like now :(

She eats like a pig but I do not feed foods high in fat on a regular basis (squid, etc), I usually only feed formula 1 flake and Rod's food, so I'm ruling out fatty liver syndrome. The tank she and her mate are in contains Prazipro and has for the last month or so. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with this fish? The pair was an early Christmas present from my mom so I really don't want to lose her :(

looks like Dropsy by the photos and description. have you looked up that? evidently an internal bacterial infection. how is your water quality?

I added Maracyn Plus to their tank thinking that it was an internal bacterial infection, and I dosed it again today (supposed to dose on days 1, 3, 5 according to directions). I believe that water quality is good, though I haven't tested this week. I keep up on my water changes and that pair makes up the only fish in the tank (a 20 long). I can't do a water change while the Prazipro or Maracyn is in the tank but I'll be doing a very large one on Tuesday when both treatments are through.

If she's not better by Tuesday is it safe to repeat treatment after I get back from going home over Thanksgiving?

there are some foods out there that have antibiotics in them...
from the article I read its tough to beat dropsy with just meds in the water. water quality was one of the possible reasons for this. good water quality, maybe try the antibiotic foods, another round of the maracyn, and keep your fingers crossed.
