Your phosphates are probably reading zero because of the algae. The algae consumes all of the available nutrients, pulling them out of the water before you can do a test.

+1 Are you running any phosphate removing media? Phosban, Rowaphos.

Yes I am running phosban. How long does phosban last before it is exhausted?

This is dependent upon many things like how often you do WC's, feed the tank, skimmer and whether or not you have a fuge.... I think if you're running a phosphate reactor and do regular water changes and feed normally (like twice a day and all gone in a minute or two) you're probably safe every two months before change out. The only real way to know is to test.

It's pretty normal. You will never be able to escape algae :(

Did a water change and I going to trim back on the feeding amount also.

You can also shut off the lights for a few days. Algae starts to die of from lack of light, and heavy skimming/phosban removes the nutrients from the water before you turn them back on.
