I got a new crocea about a week ago, and I want to see what you guys think before I give it too much more time to attach. It has good mantle extension and reaction, but it doesn't seem to open enough in my opinion. For lighting, I have 216w of T5, overdriven, and where it is now, it is about 13 inches or so from the lights. I can move it up if I detach the byssal strands, but where I could move it would be less flow. Could my flow be too strong now and that's why it isn't opening up all the way? The mantle doesn't flap in the stream, but when the powerheads switch around, it does move a little bit. I wouldn't think it would start attaching if it wasn't happy...
Here's some pics:

Here's how high it sits in the tank:

Actually looks pretty good.

I would actually be more concerned about the GSP near it, in time ( and really not that long ) it will spread over it. It could perhaps irritate it.

mantle extension looks good, i agree that the proximity to the coral may pose a problem in the near future, other than that he look happy :)

Thanks for the input! That stuff is an encrusting gorgonian, and it is the hardest stuff to get rid of. I will obviously try and keep it from covering the clam, and right now, some of the polyps touch the mantle off and on, but the clam doesn't seem to mind it or be irritated at all. Now if only I could fins a way to kill back some of that stuff...
