So I was going to clean off a lot of my old equipment and I heard vinegar worked great to get the crusty stuff off. Do I soak it in just pure vinegar? Or do I scrub it?

If its heavy crusted Id use it straight. You can do 50/50 but it isnt neccesary.Vinegar in residual quantities will not harm your tank, although I would rinse the best you can.

Thanks, should I leave it soaking in it, or just scrub it using the vinegar?

soak depending on the crusty factor. If you just want to clean then scrub will work.

i believe that its 5:1 ratio...5 cups of water and 1 cup of white vinegar and make sure its distilled. if theres hard spots to get off yea sure scrub it

Soaking is the way to go .. the stronger the solution the shorter the soak.

Looks a little better now.

Pumps and other hardware I like to actual run in the vinegar solution, but soaking will work well too.
