View Full Version : S2k's 34G Solana
I have never done a thread to document my fish tank so I figure I start one now.
My Tank is a 34G solana with the Orb 150w mh. It has been up for a 5-6 months now. I was told it was a starfire glass solana, but have no way of finding out.
Equipment:
maxi 900 return
vortech mp20
heater
WM HOB h2x
Fish:
2 percs
firefin goby
tailspot blenny
6 line wrasse
Here are some pictures: I have three pieces of tonga branches with about 3-4 rocks on top of it.

I am in the middle of aquascaping again so hopefully it will turn out better. Running out of room for corals and fishes to swim.

I'll tag along for the same question. I just bought a MP20 and will be setting up my tank next weekend.
Also, how do you have the Vortech set?
vortech is great - I have it on reef crest mode - full power.
I was afraid that it would splash all over the tank but it has done better than I expected. I didnt like to see all the powerheads in my tank so having just one pump is awesome.

You do have a great looking tank. It's a nice clean look, which is exactly what I'm after as well.

I personally didn't have the money to drop on the Vortech and I like having a couple of different sources to direct the flow from in my Solana. However, everyone I have talked to that owns a Solana and splurged for the Vortech, some with an MP40 even, looooove it. The tank looks great so far.

looks good, should look awesome once your corals grow out a little. how do you like the bare bottom? ever think about starboard?
Havent update this thread for a long time.
I thought about starboard, but didnt like the white bottom, but I saw some people glued sand to it and it looks good.
Here are a few updates of my zoa/paly collection:

And my tailspot that has been mia for the last few days. He is usually out during feeding time. I think he's a goner..

I am thinking of updating my lights to go with the lumenmax elite/galaxy combo or a sunpod 250. I am leaning towards the lumenmax combo, but still trying to figure out a way to hang it without using the ceiling.

nice tank. beautiful zoa/paly collection
Thanks Novacaine
it's been two months since I posted on this thread. Everything is doing good and I also upgraded to a 250w sunpod last weekend so hopefully the corals on the floor will get more light.
I also bought my first two ora frags.

You will be suprised with TSB they hide well and they are shy I had mine for at least 7-8 months now and it does not come out all the time when I feed it.
Mine used to come out every time I fed the tank. I think it got punked by the 6 line wrasse. Now I am down to just the 6 line and a falco hawkfish.

Nice tank!
How do you like your skimmer? I just ordered the smaller H1.

Which bulb are you using? The sps right under the orb MH is bleached. Is that Orb reflector giving a really stronge light?
the skimmer works well, but I had to raise my water level on the back to have the skimmer working properly. Solana orb was working well, but trying out the 250. So far so good.

Just upgrade the pump to MP20, no fund for 250W, and I do like the looking of orb reflector. like I said, I even have the problem to bleach the sps under 150W orb
I don't have any issues with corals bleaching. Have you check your alk?

Thanks for reminder, I will check it tomorrow. I know my alk is not very stable, always around 8-10, I think it affects by the VC dose.

cool tank and cool thread. The vortech info is very useful, I am thinking of getting one for my 55 and still need to decide if I want to shell out the cash :) BTW like the zoanthids/Paly collection.
