Thats a really sweet picture show Sid. You need to give us bigger pics though. :)

How did yours taste DML??

Southstar- Emerald crabs are good to eat valonia(bubble algae). If you have a hair algae problem you have some other fundamental set up and or husbandry issues that need addressed directly instead of trying to remedy the issue with any critter

My Emerald crab thinks he's an acropora crab. He spends a lot of time inside one of my sps colony just chilling. Doesn't eat the polyps or anything like that but sometime makes me kinda worry that he's irritating the SPS colony.

I've seen an emerald crab break coralites off a cali tort.

I have 25 in my 240(bubble algae issue). I have never "seen" them touch a coral except for sitting on them. I can say they have not made any noticeable dent in my bubble algae. I did get some form of hair alage growing of a frag rack which they seemed to love to eat but I can't say for sure what type of algae it was.

I think they have for the most part been harmless in my tank and must be eating something because they molt constantly. I have a nutrient issue, so hopefully they are helping by eating whatever is decaying in the tank to cause the nutrients.

I honestly don't know much about what they do in there, but kids love to watch them so they serve at least the fundamental purpose of having a reef tank, just to watch something you can't see every day.
