If you're asking about the 3 gallon system that includes a 50/50 9watt light and the HOB filter, I am running one of those. I have added a coralife 2x9watt pc light to up the wattage substantially. I've got a monti cap, hammer, candy cane, toadstool, gsp, zoas and lots of mushrooms doing really well.

thanks for posting.
i know that most people bark about placing any fish in a 3gal system. i want to be as humane as possible. hermits and snails are on the list, but are there people that do have fish? if so, than what type? is the lighting the only mod that was done?
this is going to be an xmas gift to my 7yo daughter.

no fish is small enough really
but you might want to try the yellow clown goby it maxes out at about 1" however you will need to be very good about water changes and you might want to get a top for it
I dont really recommend doing this but it is your best option fish wise
However I do recommend maybe a pom-pom crab or sexy shrimp instead of a fish
very color, unique, and small

I did get a yellow clown goby for mine but did not get a top for the tank due to the awkward shape and way I have the lighting attached to the sides. Two weeks later, he jumped from the tank. So I would highly recommend a top to avoid the unfortunate conversation about "fishie heaven" with your 7 daughter. I did just put a peppermint shrimp in over the weekend. He seems happy.
BTW, I change about 20% of the water every week, but I only change 3-5% of it at a time. Keeping up with this will really help the bioload if you do decide to put in a fish.

Try looking up evotia goby, the stay very small and are really perchers versus swimmer. stay in on place most of the day. (please don't ask me how I know this lol)
