assuming that the tank is ideas
calcium above 450
alk above 10
lots of fish waste
nitrate below 5
directly under a 400 watts metal halide with lumenach
low/ moderate flow
what is the possible growth rate on
derasa 5"
crocea 3.5"
maxima 3.5"
the only issue they retract about 5 x a day due to my 2 10" naso's passing by and block there lights but it open right away for 3 months the derasa and maxima learn how to adjust to that.
whats is the best growth on clams
derasa
crocea
maxima
squamosa
gigas

derasa 2" - 3" per year
crocea 1/2" - 1" per year
maxima 1" - 2" per year
squamosa 1 1/2" - 3 1/2" per year
gigas 1 1/2" - 4 3/4" per year

tridacnid clams grow quite fast until they reach sexual maturity, then slow greatly.

yes but how fast depends on the species and tank conditions as well.

my gigas grew about 2 inches in 3 months.. And my deasa is about a month now and has about and inch in growth. my squamosa when it put on new shell sould do and inch in a few days then again would not grow for a long time befor that.
