any ideas on what to use to switch from the suction cups that hold the maxijets they dont seem to work very well and im going to use the maxijets on my 140 and i got the maxijets mods kits and looking for a better way to hold them on the glass i know they sell the magnets but i cannot afford them thats why im looking for DIY

i just used magfloats that i drilled and ziptied the swivel bracket that comes with the mod kit to it...then filled the holes in with hotglue

i used a magfloat and siliconed the maxijet to it. it works great but before you do that go and get the mag float 20, it is only 1 1/2 inches in diameter and its only 9.00. alot smaller than the regular magfloat and cheaper. there you can hide the magfloat and it will be closer to the glass.

I would only order one and try it and make sure it will hold the powerhead through the glass. My mods are mounted on Mag floats as well and I don't have issues with them but they aren't the 20's. The ones I have are more like 2" x 4" and huge.

I had the mag mounts and I actually went back to the
suction cups since they were noisy with the mag mounts.

What I did was to put a dab of aquarium sealer on
each suction cup, then stick them to the glass.

After that they never came loose (on thier own) again.

I did the same with my heater.

Good Luck

the round mag floats re rated for 3/8 thick glass the same as the big hunk i have, so im thinking they will work. i read before i did the mag float thing not to glue them but to silicone them to stop the vibration which it does. i have no problems once so ever with them or the noise.

They make a magnet holder that works on the Maxi-Jets 400 through 1200, Tunze Streams and Seio super Flows. It's called the Sure Grip. I bought mine at Drs. Foster & Smith, but you may find them elsewhere.

Yes, Make sure you clean the glass first.
I usally just scrape it with a razor blade to get it clean.
