REEFFER MADNESS
11/24/2008, 01:46 PM
My rose bubble tip anemone was health and huge when I first got it and remained healthy for months. But now the mouth is open and it is shrividle up. I need to save this creature. What can I do. It has a tomato clown that misses its home. All my other corals and fish are doing well. It is under a daylight flourencant 65 watt bulb that says it puts out 500watts.

thanks

How long has the anemone been going down hill? Is it bleached? Pics? Water parameters including temp., sg, nitrates, etc. How old is the bulb? Is this the same lighting it was under when it was healthy?

it still has its color not bleached. water is good. temp is 79.3. bulb is new, same lighting. sg 125

It may be hungry? I feed it once a week and the clown brings food to it.

Thanks

You said it's mouth is open and it's shriveled up, I wouldn't assume that it is hungry based on that. In that state, it might now eat at all. Your temp and sg are fine. Sometimes they briefly shrivel up when eliminating waste.

Is it splitting? Are there alot of air bubbles around it?

I don't follow, what do air bubbles mean?

I have heard that air bubble and micro bubbles will have negative affects on anemone's if too close to them.

I had a GBTA do the same thing when my water level was low and the return was creating air bubbles that were shooting directly into my anemone....once I topped off tank it eliminated the bubbles and shortly after my anemone was fine

Pics would probably help
