Where does everyone keep there calcium at to get the fastest growth?I keep mine at 400 and notice slow growth..should I kick it up a notch?

I have kept mine at 420ppm but when I upped it to 450ppm I noticed increase growth of both sps and coraline.

How about dkh? I'm running mine around 8.0 - 9.5 or so... trying to stay closer to Sea water values. I've run higher before but thought I'd try this out.
How bout you guys?

Don't we have to factor in lighting conditions as well?

Make that between 8 or 9dkh, 9.5 being on the high side for me these days.
My original question stands....

I've heard a lot that 450ppm gets the fastest growth...

My dkh runs 9-10

I would say it isn't as much the cal ppm# rather the over all stability of the system that gets the growth. Keep everything consistant and your system will thrive. My cal runs around 400ppm. Anything around 380-450ppm is perfect.
DKh will vary with what methods you are using, a lot of the Zeo people are using around 7-8, when I first started people where keeping their dkh around 10-10.5. Find what works for you.
Ca......around 450 and less than it precipitates out. Make sure your Mg is up.
Stability is the big point here though.

+1, excellent advice from 60...!

As 60 said stability is most important, but you would probably be better off raising Alk and pH rather than Ca. As long as Ca is 360+, it is unlikely to be the limiting factor and will probably do more for precipation on pumps etc. than for coral growth.

i thought CAL would only precip out if your mag was low or the ALK wasnt balanced with the CAL...
anyway i keep mine at 450ish and alk at 10-11 mag sitting around 1400...any higher and my monties burn up...
coraline is a PITA at that level of alk and CAL though, or so i find in my tank anyway...

I try to keep my calcium at around 425(give or take 5ppm) and dkh at 9-10. This seems to keep all my corals happy and growing.
