To go from 1.02 to 1.025 in 40 Gallons of water.

This way I don't just have to add and guess.

Use saltwater to top off your tank to compensate for evaporation instead of RO/DI so you increase it very gradually.

Is this in the tank, or just in a container that you're mixing water in? If it's in the tank, you'll want to slowly increase the salinity, and the best way to do so is by topping off evaporation with salt water instead of fresh water until you're at the desired level.

amount of salt by weight is dependent on the brand to some degree, so you'll always want to measure the water before use, and NEVER add salt directly to an established tank.
