I have a mature 125 gal reef tank. I need some natural algae control. My yellow tangs have done a good job in the past but they always get too aggressive when they mature. I had a great foxface once that kept the tank very clean but a crash killed him. Since then I have had very poor luck with getting a foxface to survive in my tank.

Is there some other species of reef safe fish that I should consider to control the algae?

A blenny seems along the lines of what you're looking for

Hawkeye as a good suggestion, a salfin blenny would be good...

I'd haev to agree, a starry blenny or a sailfin blenny would work great. Or one of those cool red/orange spotted blennies.

there are a few Caribbean Clingfish that do a wonderful job at eating algae. they are very similar to freshwater plecos. look up genus Gobiesox.
