I received a pretty big leather from someone what is the best way to attach it to a rock.

Leathers can be superglued unlike most other soft corals. Ideally you'll find a hole (or grind one) in live rock just big enough to hold the base.

They can also be rubberbanded, but you want a depression in the rock so the rubberband doesn't just cut the foot.

it's not attached to a rock and there happens to be a perfect hole in a rock that I have in the tank but he want stay in there.

Gus, as Agu indicated, wedging it into the rock is usually fine. The thing about leathers is the inflate and deflate daily, so you may have to put it in the same spot several times until it takes hold. It usually takes a few days.

Decrease the flow in that direction so the coral can't float elsewhere for the duration.

A fellow hobbyist used one of those plastic cocktil swords and stabbed the base of the leather and then rubberbanded both sides of the plastic sword to a rock as to not put too much pressure on the foot of the leather and it worked really well!
