I have a ballast that ran 2 X 96W CF bulbs (the long "U" shaped bulbs) true .02 actinic. The cords between the ballast box and the lamps have corroded over the years and I took them out of service recently (do to a short at the bulb) and I'm only running MH (250W DE Phoenix 20K) on my tank. My corals and I are not as happy as we were and I need to get fluorescent light back on the tank.

I would like to switch over to a different type of bulb that is more efficient or has better light output, but will still use the same ballasts.

What should I switch over to?
Can I just purchase new cords to go between the ballast box and the new lights?
Tell me what I need to know.

Thank you!
