Canister wtih Live Rock

I have a 125g tank with no sump(it doesn't fit) i run two Rena canisters that pump out 350gph each. I currently use carbon but it takes out my supplements and messes wit my coral. i was wondering if i ran live rock in my canister would it be better than running carbon all the time.

What would you hope the live rock accomplishes? I have a ton of live rock in my dark sump. I'm not sure it does much at all, but it might denitrify to some extent. :)
