Octopus extreme external

Hello, any word on when the extreme external versions will be available? Do you suppose the external recirculating skimmers are equally efficient? thanks

I don't believe the Extreme Skimmers will ever be in an external form. The Sicce pump the Extremes skimmers utilize are not capable of running external due to the pumps heat issue. If your looking for a better performing external Octopus I would suggest looking into the Pro line with the Askoll pumps.

Could you recommend an external skimmer for a 72 gallon with 20 gallon sump. Planning on lps and sps. DNW-150 versus ext-ps150? Seems like a great sale. Thank you

DNW 150 would work but would suggest the EXT-PS150 with the bubble plate or go up a notch with the dnw200.

Thanks for your help. Any final recommendations under about 300? The dn-200 is too high for my set up. Do you carry the ext-ps200? Thus far I will plan on purchasing the ext-ps150 if you feel this is a decent skimmer (not looking for the best..I am upgrading from a remora). Does the ext come with a mesh mod?

The ext-ps150 doesn't come with the mesh mod. It is not the best skimmer but it does do a decent job and should be like night and day compared to the AC Remora. I do suggest not doing a mesh mod to smaller external skimmers like these. They tend to become inconsistent and unreliable. One thing you can look into is the new impellers for the Octopus 200 pumps. I have not tested it yet but should help in performance if desired.

heat issue? i am in the market for a new skimmer and have been researching a couple models. i was really leaning towards the octo extreme. i am curious as to how much heat we are talking about?

Sicce pumps found on the Octopus extremes need to be water cooled so they are unable to be ran externally.
