Planning on skimming an SPS 600 gal tank with heavy bioload. Any reason not to get two msx's instead of one BK 300 as far as the corals are concerned?

I don't see any reason why not for sure 2 MSX will be a better cohice.... 4 pump will collect more detritus then any other skimmer with 1 pump .

How about something like the BK 400 or ATB large? This will protect you from wasting money on a skimmer "upgrade" later down the road.

Im not so sure two would skim better than a Bubble King. If the MSX is missing the DOCs the first time, theres a good shot the second one will also, right? Just my thoughts. Id go with one larger, nicer skimmer rather than two...

um.....yeaa....

this is simple.... 2 x MSX-300's

Red Dragons are good ...but they are not 4 x psk's worth good

Plus , you have to think of it this way.. you lose that one Red Dragon..you tank has NO skimmer until u get it replaced....

You lose one psk ...and you still have 2 skimmers/3 pumps as the one psk will still make skimmate in a msx-300

And why do think that the MSX will miss Doc.... ?:D

there is a lot member that happy with those skimmer here and also skim some big tank size without problem .

I love the BK skimmer & not doubt they are good skimmer , i also will love to test the new Dc pump he will bring to the market.... i think that he build a real good product and my opinion is not because it's made by Klaus.... it's because i believe that 4 Sicce pump will collect more detritus then one RD pump....

His question was 1 BK 300 compare to 2 MSX 300 and IMO the 2 MSX will collect more detritus since there is 4 pump on those 2 skimmer and i don't believe that one skimmer with 1 pump will collect more then 4 pump..... unless he will compare 2 BK300 to 2 MSX 300 i was recommend that option.... it's not because it's red or because that it's made by Klaus (nothing against Klaus or his product ) :D

Thank you for the comments so for. I'm about to pull the trigger on skimming for a 600 gallon setup. I just don't see the point in buying a bubble king if two msx's are as effective. If the bubble king somehow would do a better job removing doc's then that would be a reason to get it. Otherwise I don't see the point throwing money out the window for no good reason.

the Bubble king is a great skimmer? but deffinitely not better than 2 . If you have sufficient sump space, then go for the dual MSX'S. (12inch bodies):eek1: :eek2:

I own a bubbleking and want to try a msx to see the skimming difference.

and you will save some money!!!

One MSX would do, but BK is the best skimmer you can get.

I would run dual msx300's without question over the single BK. Why even ask as you know the answer haha :)

and sicce pumps are cheap that Red Dragon will cost like 15,000 dollars to replace:lol:

2 skimmers that are the same size and are in the same chamber should perform equally.

Well I guess there's nothing so special about the bk skimmer then. If there was I'd go ahead and get one but it sounds like msk's would do a better job for less. Dunno why more folks don't do this.

A 400hp Evo might beat your turbo around the nurnburg but, I would still take the 911 if I had the cash.

I think everything has it's place but I won't go so far as to say the MSX is better, that could get convoluted.

Gimme the 911 at the 'ring any day of the week. Ive seen some MSX threads on here, and they look like they did an awesome job. But the BK looks like its in a class of its own. The foam head is so dense, you could set a clownfish on top of it.

for 600 gallon he will need at least 2 SM250 or 2 BK300 no way one will be enough to this system.....

Unless it's a Gen one mini or the old 400 deluxe....
