Besides the obvious yellow belly of the African are there any other differences, specifically temperament and Ick magnetism.

I have heard that the Africans are hardier but not by much :)
They both require QT and are ich prone!

I believe the yellow bellies are more prone to eat zoas.

Don't the yellow bellies also eventually get the reddish dorsal fin, like in that famous Burgess Atlas cover shot?
If you're looking for opinions, I think the yellow bellies just make the fish look pale and unhealthy :o But that's only if you're looking for opinions :D :D

my plain one ate my wells brain. I think they are all hit or miss on that charge.

great so far, keep them coming, my only experience is with the Pacific Hippo and he took out half of my livestock due to an ick infestation!

They do look a little "washed out" but the red dorsal fin is awesome!!!

I have had both. When the African outgrew my 90 I gave him to my LFS where he lived in a 400 gallon for about year until he started eating LPS. I have seen some LARGE African ones and they look spectacular.
