I'm totally disgusted with my small cone's

......skimmate. I just started dosing VSV three weeks ago, and today I found this under my tank.

Unlike every other time I cleaned a skimmer cup, this time from the very instant I cracked the seal on the neck, I was hit by the most repulsive odor ever. I work in the fishing industry, and I've smelled some really awful things over the years, dead rotten things. However, this smell made me gag:eek:

I cannot dump this into the kitchen sink, it can only be flushed, the odor is lingering.

But check this out from a lowly css 220 4 days worth, with only 2 small damsels on my 120 gal frag system.

the collection cup on the ATB is much larger, but its not important, lots of skimmers work.

Seriously, I replaced a ER RC135, it worked well, except for the fact that it leaked and had to be used in sump, plus the Sedra 5000 was loud. I decided to go with either BK or ATB, Victor lives in the South Bay, 40 minutes from me, the decision was a no brainer. I have been very happy with my purchase. In this as in any hobby, I find that you should always buy the best you can afford, cutting corners always leads to misery.

After reading this post I was a little skeptical. I really wondered if I would notice any difference at all. I mean all skimmers are just acrylic and a pump right?? WRONG
I set up my Atb Small on Monday. Last night I was cleaning out the skimmer cup, and my wife and daughter both were grossed out. The could not believe the nasty smell coming from the kitchen. My wife told me I was not allowed to clean it in the kitchen sink again. I have cleaned my other skimmers and they have not even noticed the smell. I'm now convinced that this was a great purchase. I have owned an ASM, Euroreef, and ATI bubblemaster ( the Bubblemaster was a great skimmer in my opinion) but this skimmer is in a different league. Anyone wondering if this skimmer is worth the money I can tell you it is.

I was banned from cleaning the skimmer cup in the kitchen so i took it to her bath tub and clean it :D. She never complain about the stinky skimmate again :lol:

Hold on, my BK 400ext skimmate smell like flower i mean salt water :lol:..... My BK collect waste through the bottom of the skimmer VS the collection up :D
