when adding a new SPS, is it typical to move it several times before finding that "happy" spot? If so, how long do you wait to determine if it likes the spot its in? If its in a good spot, should you notice polyps and color almost immediately or do you give it a few days, week, etc?
If a SPS coral is going white, should it be moved further or closer away from the lights?

Good questions - I would also like to know.

I think you will have better luck in the SPS forum.

i would usually give it about 3-4 days to see what happens before move it. it really does not matter how good your water is, it always takes awhile to adapt to the new environment.

good luck

Depends on why it's going white. ;) Usually it's getting too much light if it starts fading fast, but not always. In most cases, moving it lower is a better idea.
