If you are buying this lens for *macro*, it only achieves 1:2.3 at its best, so I would look elsewhere. If you are looking for a 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 then I could see that. Basically ignore the word "macro" as I don't believe this lens qualifies. Otherwise I think it seems alright as a walk around lens.
