I am upgrading the lights on my 110G (48x24x20) mixed reef. Am planning 2x250W MH along with 2x110W VHO and 2x54W T5 as supplemental lights. Is this going to be enough or too much ?? Any advise !!

I also have a spare 250W which I can put but am still confused if thats going to be an overkill. Any advise would be appreciated.

depends on what you have now, honestly, I think you will be just fine

You will be fine with 2x250 watt mh over a 48" long tank.

I have always used just as much supplemental lighting as I could cramb into the space as I could, but you should be alright with just the VHO's or just the T5's.

its becomming a normal habit within the reefing world today to have lots of light, i doubt you could have too much, i think your fine, the 2 250 s will be great, and as above cram as much as you can by the way of supplementry lighting if at all possible, maybe even LEDs eh?;)

Yes it will be plenty for sps. For better light output from the 250's look into some better reflectors, Something like lumenarcs.

Thnaks.....I am putting in the Lumenarc Mini refelctors which will give me a 2'x2' coverage hopefully !!

That should work very well.
What bulb/ballast combo are you planning?

- 2x UVL 48 Inch VHO Super Actinic Bulb and 2 x Giesemann Powerchrome AquaBlue+ 54W 48 inch T5 on IceCap 660 Electronic Fluorescent Ballast.
