This brown tang just keeps dominating over all the tangs, I got it with a mimic tang twice its size, it fought it. Got a yellow tang, it bullied until it died. Today, I got a convict tang, it chase it all the time. I am tired of this brat. Any ideas to get him out without doing anything to the rocks ?
What size is the tank? You could always use a trap, or try getting it in the middle of the night when it's sleeping.

I've used one of these in the past to get several fish out of a reef tank before.
Just takes a little time.
If your lucky you can find where it hides at night, but you may have to remove the whole rock, because they usually wedge themselves in pretty good.

go fishing. Use a small hook and nori after not feeding for 48 hrs. use a barbless hook or use a pliers to push it down.
I caught a grey angel this way after days for pulling apart the tank and trying to net it. My traps were too small for him. It took more time to tie the hook, then to catch him.
Have a bucket ready.....

I would get a fish trap. One of my friend has 6 tangs in his tank. when one starts causing a problem he puts him in quarantine for a few days and then back in the main tank. He got all of his fish to get along this way.

You could also fashion a bottle trap out of an oblong plastic jug. Some gallon sized apple juice containers are like this. I was planning to use this next time I need to catch a larger fish.

If you are going to keep tangs, the one in the tank longest will always believe he's the "boss" until you get a meaner tang, which may lead to the older one dieing. If you want to put in more tangs, get them all at once. When you are ready to put them into the DP, remove the old tang, rearrange / re-stack the rock so he won't have a home territory, and put them all in at once. They will still go at it until a "pecking order" is established, but it should be less severe and less deadly. If your tank is large enough for the population they should settle down into at least an armed truce.
If you resort to the hook, remember to remove the barb and understand that the fish may be injured.

My tang is small around 2.5 in only. The convict is 2". I tried the restack, re intro, it does not work. I re scape, keep it in my sump for one week. Put it back in and the next day my yellow tang died.
