Really loving this one! Here's my 2 eyes that I was able to grab. The yellow tips are coloring up and there is definitely a rim developing. Little sparkles too.

Feeling lucky for sure Jose. Thanks! Actually have had it for a while but was being while waiting for the okay to post a pic. Let's hope it is a fast grower. It is placed near my Miami Hurricane/Pumpkin Patch, and I have to say, the Superman has something extra. Not bad mouthing the MH/PP, love it and don't even want to frag my nice little colony because it is getting sweeter everyday. The Superman is definitely one of the coolest corals in my tank.

LMAO! Was watching myself too, felt guilty not posting pics of such a beauty. Here's a better pic that some freakazoid took with some sort of fancy new fangled techno camera. (Think it was a Fisher Price?)
http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/qq278/Chigrove/SupermanFrag.jpg
Oh, and bring your fancy camera to South Beach and show me how easy it is to take pics thru curved glass under LEDs and I will buy the same camera. :bum: I hope you can make it look easy. I will try not to laugh too hard if it doesn't work though. My next tank will not have curved glass for this reason alone.

nice looking chalice!! will this be a tyree ae or le??

12/07/2008, 01:30 AM
For an LE a frag is sold every other month. For an AE there is only quarterly fragging and auction. AE corals would be fragged less often which is probably a better idea for these rare chalices. That is why I chose to make the Oregon Mummy Eye an AE. Initially I thought I would make it an LE and then I thought it would be fragged less as an AE. HAHA I learned a lot from that!!

mrgreenthumb
12/07/2008, 02:19 AM
so ae is more is harder to get or more rare?

roblack
12/07/2008, 08:53 AM
Pretty sure it is scheduled to become and LE. I believe harvest schedules are determined by growth rates and not LE/AE status. While and AE coral may only be auctioned quarterly, it will be fragged more than that if a fast grower. Similarly, if an AE/LE is a slow grower, it will not be fragged until ready.

Really nice chunk you have there Jose! Congrats! Keep us all posted on how it how it does. Can't wait till mine grows out more, won't be fragging this one for a long time either way. It's hard to capture in the pics, but my slice has a turquoise/greenish blue hue to the base that I have never seen in any coral, and then all the other colors pop on top of that.

Ii will be a LE. I prefer all my corals to be LE 's.

Why?

JOSE CASAS
12/08/2008, 03:30 PM
AE goes to the highest bidder, LE goes to the person who is willing to wait.:)

jjmcat
12/08/2008, 03:37 PM
Do the LE corals have a better history for being more hardy or is it mainly for a resale purpose.

JOSE CASAS
12/08/2008, 07:53 PM
AE or LE have nothing to do with the hardyness of the coral but for me is more of a personal thing.
