How fast does your grow? i just noticed this pic i took
oct.20, & one i took today.
my slow growing oregon tort frags just looks the same 2 yrs later

by what I know the Purple monsters are slow grover :(
At what level of the tank did you put ?

about 6" from bottom. so maybe 30" from light

the position should be right,now I'm keeping mine close to the surface but under T5 and some indirect light of my HQI....
since 1 month it has just partially encrusted the plug

hehe you've got a couple of unexpected frags :D always good for a trade or selling.
Is your oregon tort groving slow?I've the calitort and it grows with a good rate...
BTW is your PM a Tyree ones?

yes they are . i got 1 frag of ea. about 1" long 2 yrs. ago
the OT is still 1 stick, a little fatter, but only 1/2" taller. i got a decent little colony of the pm in the same time span.
my cali ORA is doing a nice clip,

both are insanely slow growers, compared to other corals

My Tyree PM came to me as a very XL 3" frag, and has been one of the best growers in my 4 month old tank; granted it ain't a digita or anything, but it really has had noticeable growth in 2 months. I just noticed today that it now has three active growing tips with the white polyps. It's about 14" under T5's, mainly Blue+ and Fiji Purples...

I've heard this also that they take a while to get going and then grow much better. Any pics of yours now Todd? and dang where did you get a 3" piece!

Yeah, I got lucky, Lunch... The frag came from someone here on RC that had to frag his whole colony, and this last frag sat in his frag tank for many, many months. He was selling on eBay, and I really got lucky as I ended up paying not too much more than many sell the little 1/2" frags for online. It's also a nice deep rich magenta-purple.

Mty dig camera died a few months ago, and with this economy, I can barely afford a few frags here and there, let alone a nice dig cam...!

Yeah, I'm a groomer and trainer, and my income is down by 40%, though it's picking up due to the holidays. The summer was so good, I spent way too much on this tank...!

No, dig camera died literally the day I was filling the tank with water (though I guess even that's late for a "build" thread, huh?)... Someday soon I will have a "tank tour" thread...!
