Ive read 80% of the the Remote Deep Sand Bed thread. I had one question that I couldnt find the answer to. Im wondering if it is better to have the RDSB before or after skimmer or if it doesnt matter?

Thanks

You want the cleanest water to pass through the DSB, so there is no detritus buildup....

After the skimmer and all other possible means of filtering the water. As said, you want the most detritus free water possible going through the RDSB so there is less chance of anything settling into the sand in the bucket. Also, the more you filter out, the less nutrients in the tank to degrade and produce nitrates - which you are trying to get rid of.

Thanks alot!

Ill plumb it in after my skimmer, just before my Refugium.

okay. I have a question that falls along this line. I have a 125 gallon tank for my sump.

Should the DSB be seperate from the refugium? or can the refugium have a DSB (8-10") along with mangroves in it?

I am going to have my skimmer out of the sump but it will be fed water from the inlet to the sump after the water goes through my filter socks.

After your refugium. Let your fuge handle as much of the nitrates as it can before the RDSB.

how deep does every consider a RDSB to be? 6-8" or more?

i believe 8 is minimum and 20 is maximum

the only real place for me to plumb it in is before refugium because my return pump is in the refugium. Is this going to cause any major problems?

The earlier it is in the system, the more chance of detritus settling in the bucket. As for depth, they are typically the depth of a 5 gallon bucket minus a few inches. Not sure of a minimum depth but somewhere around 8 inches would be as thin as I would go on one.
