I don't think those filters have enough carbon in them to do much. If you wanted to use it you could buy polyfilters and cut size to fit. They will help to pull some nasties out of the water. http://www.poly-bio-marine.com/polyprod.htm Hope this helps.

if you want to run carbon and use that filter your better off buying media bags like these http://www.incredibleaquarium.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=418
and carbon like this http://www.incredibleaquarium.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=1056

you can just drop it in the section where the filter would normaly go

I have been using a hob for quite a while and run nothing but carbon in it.....It does a great job and yes i do notice a difference....I utilize it in my sump and be honest Im sure its better than running nothing ....Just dont use the foam pad.....and make sure you change it regularly....a Media bag in the corner of a sump will do nothing for you ...You need flow through it...
