Looking for suggestions/methods on how to get a fairly bad outbreak under control.

So far I've gone to weekly 25% weekly water changes in addition to adding a phosphate removal. Things are a bit better since then but still have lots of new growth on the back wall and over lots of rock.

Is this just something that will have to eventually play itself out or is there something I can do that will halt it's progress markedly?

Thanks

is your tank big enough to add a lawnmower blenny?
they love hair algae

sorry...yes, it's a 29 biocube with only a small percula and coris wrasse.

Are LM Blenny's that crazy about it?

I'm reading that turbo snails with help too. Any experience with these?

Are you aware of any chems that can be added?

none of my turbos have ever eaten hair algae...but i'm not super experienced w/ that. I'd use phosban (removes phosphates)
also, you could look into a UV sterolizer for your tank

Thanks for the advice.

I'll check around for a LM Blenny and look into a strerilizer.

manual removal will help most if possible. cut back on light period, run carbon but change every 3 days. make sure your source water is good. stay away from any quick fix chemicals.

my lawnmower blenny would only touch the stuff it was kept short... if you let it grow for a few days he wouldnt touch it.

What are your nitrate counts the day before you decide to change water? Above 10ppm?

Sally ligth foot crabs.

BTW, it says 20g biocube in your signature, ????

Dont waste you money on a serilizer. Post up your water paramters and that will help us better assist you. Also a detailed description of you tank is also recc(light bulb brand, fedding times, food, system setup, water source, so on and so on). This will allow us to know exactly what is going on.
