So we finally met another reefer in our area that is interested in doing some trading, i have 3 small toadstools growing on the same rock and 1 is at the base of another.
How do i go about doing this without harming them?

Chop it off with some of the stump, rubberband or string it around a pc of LR, in a few weeks it will be attached. These things are tough, you could prob mince them in a food proc and have a 1000 frags if you wanted :)

Whats left of the stump will grow a new head.

As much or as little stump as you want to frag off, I'd go for more, makes it easier to tie it down to the new rock. As far as cutting tools, anything will work, I've seen youtubes of folks using scissors, chop it up and throw it into a bucket of rubble for gobs of frags. The time I've fragged I used a clean razor blade, I always try for as clean a cut as possible. If you can get it out of the tank to frag it might be better, leathers have toxins. But i've done in tank (I run carbon). little babies like that it shouldn't be a problem.

Cut it clean with a good razor and it will grow. Leathers are one of the easyer corals to frag. I was worried at first as well but it does work. away

Oh and don't panic if the frags look terrible / tentacles retract / discolor / skin sheds / etc. Perfectly normal, things will recover. It'll come back in a week or so.

scalpel, sharp scissors, or razor. quick snip is all it takes. you can also cut the top off and cut it into 'pizza slice' pieces if you want. they will attach in a few days to week in a calm spot in your tank (or you can toothpick them or secure them with some fishing string or a loose rubberband). easy cut and paste

Don't be scared, they are VERY easy corals to frag.

you can literally just chop it straight down. grab some stump in your cut too. Theres no WRONG way to do this. I've accidentally fragged leathers in the past. In aabout a week it'll partially attach to a piece of rock if you rubber band it. The cut part may leech some toxins into the water . so you can run carbon, or do a water change if you want. Just make sure the other corals around it arent looking upset. they are forgiving
