Hey everyone.
I've had a yellow finger gorgonian in my tank for about a month now. Up until two days ago, it has been opening nicely and I had spot fed it with phyto and the polyps also readily accepted brine shrimp.
I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence or what, but there was a population explosion of aphipods in my tank... one day I saw something skitter across the front of my tank and didn't know what it was, a week later it seemed like they were crawling everywhere... including all over the gorgonian.
I also seem to have noticed that since that happened, my emerald crabs enjoy climbing the gorgonian at night; they're latched on the thing hanging upside down when I turn the tank lights on, but they only do this when the lights are off.
So I'm not sure if all this activity on the coral is stressing it out and that's why it's not opening, so I'm considering adopting my crabs to a fried if that's the case. They don't seem to be nipping at the coral; there aren't any pieces missing and the flesh is still a nice, healthy color.
Any ideas?
