In the next few weeks i plan on starting up my 155 and i want to get a 30 under the tank as a sump.. hopefully i can get a 30 to fit under the tank since its an oceanic stand to begin with. I would get a larger size but i doubt anything larger then 30 will fit since there is a wooden support in between the two glass doors..

anyways im not here to ramble about that...

If i get a 30 gallon that can fit under the main tank i want to be able to support a fuge and fit my skimmer (TurboFloter1000)inside it aswell. Does anyone have a simple set up like what im talking about it? if so can u post an image so i can get an idea of how to plumb and space out the dividers for the bubble trap and such.

This would be my first trying to DIY a sump w/fuge set up.. id rather know how to do it right then mess up.

What are the dimensions of the stand, you should be able to fit something bigger. Most manufactured stands have a removable brace in the back.

the dimensions of my stand are 72" long and 17" wide.. i think 24" in the middle of the tank since it is bowfront.

from either end its 15" inward then come the doors which are 20" each. They can come off so that doesn't bother me. Its the 2" inch brace in the middle of the stand that sits in the front which for some reason makes me think i cant twist the tank under it..

I would put the tank through the back but its already running the tank as a Freshwater system right now and is perfectly level.. Im trying to avoid moving it from its original spot for 4 years

I was able to cut my stand for larger openings. I removed the center brace in the front and replaced it with two 2x4s. Stained them built some new doors and all was well. I was able to slide a 40 gallon under my stand by doing this. I also managed to do this with the tank full of water.

Here is my setup. The tanks is a 130 Oceanic. . 36x12x16. Make sure your skimmer base is not longer than the width of your sump. I have more diagrams if you need.

Here is my 30G sump with a Turboflotor 1000 installed in it.
If you are interested I can get all the measurements as far as spacing and baffle heights when I get home tonight.

In this first picture the skimmer is in place and the old Rio is sitting in the return space. The Rio was just for the picture, the return is actually an OR 3500.

Here it is sitting in the unfinished stand.

Here it is after the first month or so. I really need to get current pictures, these are 5 years old but it has not changed a bit.
