I just hooked up the pump to my sump tank. The pump is about level to the top of the tank. The pump will run but i can not get it to suck any water out of the sump and send it to the main tank!!!

Anyone know why????

Don't know about the little giant, but most aquarium pumps aren't designed to do that. You need the water to be fed to the pump by gravity.

Does your sump have a bulkhead below the water level?

I have pvc pipe running about 12 under the water line.....so your telling me that i need to take out all the water in the sump and drill the fukalsjdf;lj thing?

Not necessarily, although that would be optimal.
You can have pipe go over it like a U-tube. Just make sure that much is full of water. To do that, you can fill it up in the reverse direction (from your tank). As long as there is water in the tank, in the pump, and up to the walls of the pump, you would be fine. ALthough depending on the height of the d-tank above the sump, you may run in to backsiphon problems when the water is drained from your tank, causing it to empty the water holding where the pump is.
But drilling the sump is by far your best option, IMO

No, just try to prime it first, but the pump must be moved to the floor.

In theory, you can submerge a line in the sump, go up over the sump, and then down to the pump. The pump MUST be below the water line of the sump for this to work, and the line from the sump to the pump MUST remove . Then go from the pump to the tank. Once you get the air out of the line from the sump to the pump, you should be fine going forward including power outages.

If this is not clear, let me know.
