How big of a fish tank, or how many gallons would I need to hold around a 4-5 inch emporer angel?
Thanks

They can grow to 12" or more, so I'd say you want at least 150 gal. At the current size it might be OK in a 90 gallon.
And remember, they're not reef safe.

Not to start a huge debate, but "Not Reef Safe" is relative. Should be no issues in an SPS tank, might be issues in a softie/LPS tank but it all depends on the fish (each fish is different) and how well it is fed...if it is fed well it will not go after other stuff in the tank...but I do agree that you need a bigger tank and would not recommend it in a 90 gallon.

Jason, you're right about the SPS and the angel. I was directing my comment specifically at Ben since his tank is LPS/Softies. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah if you have a reef tank I would HIGHLY recommend not getting an angel. I had a juvi emperor angel that never ate my corals, for 8 or 9 months, then randomly started eating them all. That was not fun getting him out. But it is up to you... The only way i'd get another angel if it came from another person that has had it in a reef tank for a while

Thanks, i've always considered doing a 72 bow front tank, but never really wanted to spend the huge amounts of $$ on it. I was just wonder if that would house one, bu tI guess not!
Thanks alot everyone!
